Until recently only available for the members of the Trek Factory Racing pro cycling team, Bontrager’s XXX Road shoes are now up for grabs, and they even have a price that isn’t going to completely empty your bank account.

The 400$-priced pair was manufactured using the latest and most sophisticated technology that Bontrager has its hands on, and this claim seems valid given that only the likes of Fabian Cancellara and other such riders got to wear them so far. XXX Road relies on several key features such as inForm Pro last, an ergonomically optimized fit, the Platinum Series Carbon sole, which is both light and stiff (stiffness index 14) or the dual independent Boa IP1 dials for zone-specific adjustability.

The XXX Road cycling shoes also stand out thanks to their weight of 440 grams/pair (220 grams/piece), a value that slightly bests Northwave’s Extreme Tech Plus pair (470 grams/pair, 235 grams/piece). However, this value isn’t enough to beat Specialized’s S-Works Road shoes (400 grams/pair, 200 grams/piece), nor Mavic’s Huez Road Shoes (380 grams/pair, 190 grams/piece). All the values represent the weight of 42-sized pairs.

Coming back to Bontrager XXX Road, sizing begins at 40 (EU) or 7 (US), and stops at 47, respectively 14, the only two available colors being black or white.
